Building a data center?
Get the water report.

Cooling supply has become the binding constraint on hyperscale and colocation data center siting in three new metros over the last two quarters. The Water Hawk Data Center Water Report walks your site-selection or capital-committed build through the host utility, the constraint posture, the 24-month forward outlook, and the chemical-supply context. When the host utility cannot deliver the cooling-supply or wastewater capacity your project needs, we introduce you to a vetted P3 water-treatment partner.

Why this matters now

Water-as-constraint pressure

Three new metros (Phoenix, Las Vegas, Reno) joined the water-constrained list in Q2 2026. Eleven metros are now binding on water; fourteen on power.

Cooling supply gaps

Phoenix Water and Las Vegas Valley Water District both issued cooling-supply infrastructure RFPs in Q2 that were not on the announced calendar at quarter-start. Sites planned without that capacity assumption hit their first capital decision blind.

P3 partner option

When the host utility cannot deliver capacity, a P3 water-treatment partner is the fastest path to closing the gap. We maintain a vetted partner list and make warm introductions on the With-site-visit tier.

Three tiers

Best for: Site-selection scoping across 1 to 3 candidate metros

  • Cluster topology and host-utility profile per candidate site
  • Water and power constraint-pressure indicator (Water Hawk composite)
  • Host-utility 12-month chemical procurement cadence and supplier-share context
  • Federal designation overlay (Opportunity Zone, IIJA priority, EPA Justice40, HIFLD water security)
  • One-time PDF deliverable, 20 to 30 pages, branded

  • Everything in Standard
  • 24-month forward constraint-pressure outlook with sensitivity bands
  • Host-utility capital plan cross-reference; gaps flagged with project-timeline implications
  • Cooling-supply pro-forma sensitivity to drought, regulatory shifts, and competing demand
  • Wastewater capacity and discharge-permit trajectory analysis

What you can expect

  1. Step 1. Email [email protected] with the candidate metros (or the committed site) and the project timeline. We respond within one business day with a scope confirmation and a delivery date.
  2. Step 2. Engagement letter, payment, and intake call. Standard tier kicks off immediately; Deep and With-site-visit tiers schedule the host-utility outreach during the intake call.
  3. Step 3. Analyst-led research and writeup. We pull from the Water Hawk live workspace (national rankings, chemical lane encyclopedia, host-utility dossiers where one exists, the trigger-event watch list), supplement with public-record bond disclosures and capital plans, and frame the constraint posture for your project.
  4. Step 4. Delivery. Branded PDF with executive summary, per-metro analysis, capital plan cross-reference, and (on Deep and With-site-visit tiers) a 24-month forward outlook with sensitivity bands. With-site-visit tier includes a live presentation.
  5. Step 5 (optional). When the host utility cannot deliver the capacity your project needs, we introduce you to a vetted P3 water-treatment partner from our network. The introduction is part of the With-site-visit tier; we can also broker the intro standalone for a $5,000 introduction fee.

Important

The Data Center Water Report is opinion-based analysis of public data and Water Hawk cohort intelligence. It is not investment, legal, financial, or engineering advice. P3 partner introductions are unpaid (we do not take referral fees from the partner side) and are governed by separate engagement letters between you and the partner. All sales final. See Data Disclaimers.
